This space serves as the royal seat for the Guru Maha Sannidhanam. This is the place where Paramaśiva (the Source Energy of all beings) resides in the form of the Banyan Tree, in the form of the self-manifested deity called the ‘Swayambhu Linga’ in the Golden Temple, and in the form of His own incarnation, The SPH Sri Nithyananda Paramashivam. The History of the Banyan tree is the History of Kolada Mutt, being the city branch of the Adi Peetha. It was under this Banyan tree that Paramashiva Himself as Adi Dakshinamurti, revealed the Agamas (Hindu Source scriptures) to Devi (Embodiment of Universal Divine Feminity) and the Sapta Rishis (the seven great Sages of ancient Hindu History and Vedic Era). The jīva samādhi (final resting place of mortal body) of Adi Dakshinamurti as well as Devi lie here under this Banyan tree. The jīva samādhi of the Sapta Rishis also lie around the Banyan tree. The Self-manifest deity (svayambhu liṅga) emerged in this sacred space that was directly worshipped by Sri Rāma Prabhu (a divine incarnation of Lord Viṣṇu) over 10,000 years ago during his forest stay of 14 years, when He arrived in the South from His kingdom Ayodhya city, North India.
